An Introduction to Population Data Science at the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy

The Manitoba Centre for Health Policy (MCHP) houses the Manitoba Population Research Data Repository. MCHP curates this nationally recognized repository of health and social program data facilitating personal level longitudinal and cross-sectional analyses through data linkage. This presentation will describe the repository, provide examples of analyses using the Repository and suggest opportunities for future innovative uses of the data.
Alan Katz received his medical training at the University of Cape Town in South Africa. He is a past chair of the Health Research Ethics Board in the Rady Faculty of Health Sciences and is a senior researcher at the Manitoba Centre for Health Policy. His research interests are focused on the use of the extensive data Repository held at MCHP to explore the use of Natural Language Processing, Primary Care delivery, including quality of care indicators, knowledge translation and disease prevention.
