The Faculty of Science is holding a free one-day workshop on Friday, November 30, 2018 to provide information and support for our faculty who are interested in how to identify and protect their IP, further their translational research, and potentially bring it to market.

Workshop participants will be eligible for Faculty of Science Research Innovation and Commercialization Grant.

What – Research Innovation and Commercialization Workshop with:

  • expert panel and Q & A including patent attorneys, technology accelerators, funders, and more,
  • speakers and info sessions,
  • networking lunch included (no cost),
  • interactive concept development consultations for up to 10K per grant (NEW Faculty of Science Research Innovation and Commercialization Grant).

IDENTIFY AND MAXIMIZE YOUR IP

  • Hear from individuals who have successfully taken their research from the bench to market.
  • Learn from a patent agent how to ensure your research IP is properly protected and maximized.
  • Understand the internal processes and policies at UM to protect, patent, commercialize, or license a product.
  • Learn more about choosing the best path – startup or licensing – assessing the market and development pathway, and raising venture capital.

  • Participate in an interactive panel and networking lunch with local and Canadian resources including incubators and funding agencies to discuss how they can work for you.
