Q: We would like to conduct collaborative research as partners with the researchers in the Faculty of Science. How should we proceed?

Depending on the terms of the research being conducted this may be accommodated through either a partnership Grant or a Collaborative Research Contract. Contact kristen.kindrachuk@umanitoba.ca , Research Facilitation and Business Development Officer.

Q: Who should I contact to find out about the technical capabilities in the Faculty of Science?

Inquiries should be sent to Jolen Galaugher, Industry and Community Liaison Officer. Jolen will connect you with the most appropriate researchers.

Q: I’m already in discussion with a Faculty of Science researcher regarding a potential collaboration. Where should we go from here?

New partners should contact kristen.kindrachuk@umanitoba.ca , Research Facilitation and Business Development Officer to discuss partnerships and strategies to ensure maximum leveraging of funds.

Q: I have a some samples I’d like to have tested. Can the Faculty of Science test my samples?

A: Depending on the equipment and expertise required faculty may be able to test your samples on a fee-for-service basis through a Technical Services Agreement.

Q: How can my organization to hire an intern?

Various types of internships are available through either the Mitacs program and the Co-op program.

Q: Where can I find more information on the Research Contracts at the University of Manitoba?

Q: How is IP at the University of Manitoba handled for partnerships?

This will depend on the nature of the partnership. Inquiries regarding IP and confidentiality can be directed to the Technology Transfer Office at tto@umanitoba.ca

Q: Are there templates available for drafting agreements?

Yes! Templates can be found here. Using University of Manitoba templates will expedite the process of getting your agreement approved and is highly recommended.

Q: Our organization has a general interest in a particular subject area and would like to support further research in this area in the Faculty of Science. How can we provide this type of support?

This type of support can typically be provided in the form of a Grant to a researcher or a Sponsored Research Contract. We would love to talk with you more about the possibilities.
