Microbiology Retreat 2019

The Department of Microbiology took time out from their busy schedules to attend a retreat from May 28th through 29th at the St. Norbert Arts Centre. Tuesday focused on mental health, with attendees treated to a presentation on mindfulness by author/consultant/mindfulness expert Keith McPherson in the morning and a “JackTalk” on the “Basics of Mental Health” in the afternoon. Wednesday was devoted to research and teaching, starting off with 3MM (3 Minute Microbiology) presentation by everyone involved in research, including Micro faculty. The retreat wrapped up with an afternoon spent discussing such topics as MBIO undergraduate program requirements, further lab-based courses and integration into the programs and grad teaching. Well-organized, logically presented and filled with helpful information, this years’ retreat was the best ever! Can’t wait ‘til next year.
