Welcome Back – a message from the Dean
Welcome to the Faculty of Science!
The start of a new Fall term is full of excitement and possibilities. We are looking forward to the year ahead as we slowly transition to a return to campus and back to in-person learning. Please remember that all UM students, faculty, staff and campus visitors must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. The pandemic is ever-changing, so we encourage you to regularly check UM’s COVID-19 website to learn what is required of you.
Science is a place of discovery, so I encourage you to be open to new experiences. Now is the time to explore a variety of topics and find out what really interests you.
Your professors are committed to teaching and research excellence and want to ensure you succeed. If you have questions about course requirements and expectations please reach out to them early on. At the University of Manitoba, there are many student supports and resources available to support you every step of the way.
Remember to make your degree work for you! Beyond the classroom get involved! Join a student group or club, explore research, Science Co-op, or mentoring. Take part in competitions and hackathons, or travel exchange and internship opportunities.
Many exciting opportunities await you at the Faculty of Science!
Please check your UM email account regularly for important updates and announcements. Follow us on @umanitobasci on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
Best of luck to you in all your future pursuits and endeavours!
