Research and Teaching Interests
Prof. Andreas Shalchi is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy. He leads a research group exploring the motion of energetic particles through a magnetized plasma such as the solar wind or the interstellar medium. The group is also interested in related topics such as MHD turbulence, shock acceleration, as well as mathematical and computational physics in general. Since 2015 the group is a member of the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) consortium which is a multinational project to build the next generation ground-based gamma-ray instrument.
Research Expertise:
Theoretical Astrophysics, Computational Physics, Cosmic Rays, MHD;
