Maker Space Standard Rates

The Faculty of Science Maker Space is operated based primarily on fees charged for the usage of the 3D printers and other equipment hosted in the Maker Space. Fees fund student positions operating the Maker Space and cover costs for materials, maintenance, and parts.

Fees are determined by the amount of material used, the type of material, the machine time required for the job, and fees for student time if applicable. There are three categories of jobs charged: Personal, Academic, and Other. Personal jobs are permitted but are given lowest priority and are charged at higher fees to subsidize academic activities. Academic fees are set on a cost recovery basis and are not charged based on machine time used. Other jobs include batch jobs for outreach items, conference memorabilia, or external requests. Fees are set for other jobs on a case-by-case basis.
