Health/Athletics

As a student of the University of Manitoba, you have access to over 1 million square feet of buildings and spaces dedicated to fitness, recreational and leisure pursuits, including the new state-of-the-art Active Living Centre (Fort Garry campus):

  • 38,000 square foot cardio and resistance training area
  • 200-metre elevated running track
  • On-site certified Fitness Attendants

We strongly encourage our students to consider making recreation a regular part of their day. It is documented that students who participate in consistent aerobic physical activity can reap the benefits of increased concentration, memory, creativity and problem-solving skills. Regular physical activity can also aid in helping to reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep and is also linked to helping students achieve better grades.
