Research and Teaching Interests
Before joining UManitoba, I was an assistant professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Mississippi State University and I worked as a postdoctoral researcher at SAIL at Queens University led by Prof. Ahmed E. Hassan (IEEE fellow). I obtained my Ph.D. from School of Information Systems, Singapore Management University under the supervision of Prof. David Lo and Prof. Lingxiao Jiang in 2015, and bachelor degree from Zhejiang University in 2010. I visited Carnegie Mellon University (CMU) in 2013.
My research focuses on: software engineering and data mining. My goal is to build fundamental knowledge and algorithms to help software developers retrieve and leverage big software data (e.g., code repositories, developer social media) effectively and efficiently. My research interests cover: Recommendation system; Data-driven software engineering; Software debugging; Program comprehension; Software repository mining; Secure software development.
Prospective students: if you are interested in joining my group, please see more details here.
