Research and Teaching Interests

Research: Microwave Radar Imaging and Sensing (with a particular focus on developing medical devices for improving access to breast cancer screening in underserved communities), Scatter Imaging (as applied to Positron Emission Tomography – PET and X-ray Computed Tomography – CT) and use of diagnostic and megavoltage imaging for adapting, optimizing and verifying radiation therapy. Radiation Transport and Dosimetry of photons, neutrons and electrons. My research uses analytical reconstruction techniques, machine learning, simulation, and mathematical analysis to study, reconstruct and model radiation propagation to improve the detection and treatment of cancer and other diseases.

Teaching: I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Introductory Medical Physics, Medical Radiation Physics, Radiation Protection and Linear Systems for Imaging.

Roles: Professor and Associate Head (Physics and Astronomy), Professor (Radiology and Biomedical Engineering), University of Manitoba; Senior Research Scientist, CancerCare Manitoba Research Institute.
